Hasta la vista Chickens

Well we had to say goodbye to the girls. They were a lot of fun, but since we bought the Travel Trailer and plan on traveling quite a bit this summer it wouldn't be fair to them or us to leave them without their twice daily feeding and watering session. The princess will miss her "pet" Extra Crispy the black star hen. But we all said bye, bye and even freecycled their coop.

Two things

I have found this Yahoo! group called freecycle, you can see if there is a free cycle Yahoo! group near you by going to www.freecycle.org. According to their website Freecycle is :

Welcome! The Freecycle Network™ is made up of 4,111 groups with 3,818,000 members across the globe. It's a grassroots and entirely nonprofit movement of people who are giving (& getting) stuff for free in their own towns. It's all about reuse and keeping good stuff out of landfills. Each local group is moderated by a local volunteer (them's good people). Membership is free. To sign up, find your community by entering it into the search box above or by clicking on “Browse Groups” above the search box. Have fun!

It is fantastic, the people are really nice and there really are people out there who want your junk.

With that being said, I posted that I needed a chicken coop and got many replies. I'm going sometime this weekend to pick up a rabbit hutch which we are hoping to recycle into a coop. I am really excited.

So now can you guess the second thing? Yes we are getting a chicken. I think it is a Rhode Island Red pullet. Pictures will follow.
