Thankful Thursday

No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it. 1 Corinthians 10:13 (NIV)

Today I am thankful to our Lord for this verse, even though quite often I forget it's promise.

I was reading the news and came across the story that Owen Wilson had attempted suicide. My first reaction was what reason could he possibly have to do that he has everything. Then the Lord whispered to my heart. . . "Does he really?" Then He brought to mind a time that things were so dark that I felt I had no where else to turn. Let's pray that Mr. Wilson finds a place to turn, to the Healer of hurts, the Lover of souls, the All in All.

I am thankful that in my time of dark and swirling despair that Our Father was there, even though for a while I couldn't seem to find Him.

Maybe others in Hollywood will see that there is more to life than having everything. That the things and the money and the parties does not fill their hearts. I join you in that prayer for Owen and the rest of that whole culture in Hollywood. Thanks for stopping by my place. Blessings!

My heart has hurt for so many of those in public who seem to have it all.
I wonder during the midnight hours who is there for them when things get dark.
I too was surprised by this news.
I pray that he meets the one who loves him before it is too late.
Thank you for your heart.

Hollywood has become very good at "painting" the good life for people like Owen Wilson. I feel for him, and I'm sure there are many others that can't find what they really need in this life.
I think this is one of my favorite verses, as it's reassuring. Sometimes it's hard to remember that HE is always with us. Thank you for reminding me.
Blessings,
Karen

I have been troubled by Owen's attempted suicide as well. Our town had a well known weather man take his life a few months ago and I felt so sad for him and his family. They are all searching for happiness, but searching in the wrong ways ----

Such a true post. Thank you for that reminder. I think I can feel very apathetic sometimes when I see people who 'appear' to have it all spiral downwards. But it's just worldly things that they have. You have spurred me on to also pray for those like Owen who are hurting in the spotlight.

I found this new so distressful as well. Suprising because I normally don't care about Hollywood. But, I think I was thinking along the same lines as you.

How can anyone find contenment and happiness outside of Christ. Thank you for suggesting to pray for him. Great post.

Thank you for reminding me of this verse. I think I've had my share of what I can bear this week, so it can only be better from here on out with God's constant care.
God bless you

I had the same thought and was reminded of what he doesn't have. :(

Thanks for sharing that scripture!

And..if you ever do decide to adopt from China, let me know! We tried to adopt domestically and it didn't work out. It's a LONG line but hopefully it will speed up soon.

Blessings~

This reminded me of the story I was reading this morning. Paul went before King Agrip; Paul was in chains, the King had much pomp around him. BUT...

It was Paul who was free, not King Agripa.

I praise God no matter what early ties bind me, I am really free.

That is so sad to hear that he could not turn anywhere for help. Very sad, indeed.

Thank you so much for sharing your thankfulness with us this week.

Be blessed today and always.
