Show and Tell Friday

Ok, today's Show and Tell will be my mantel.

We have a "faux" fireplace and the mantel catches everything as soon as people walk in the door. So I decided to clear it off and start over . . .

Here is the before, the picture above the mantel was my Nana's (my grandmother). She was a great woman of faith and I am proud to have been her granddaughter. She passed away in 1994 before we had kids, but I know she would love mine. Ooops, sorry this is supposed to be about the mantel. Ok here it is blank.

Here it is with Stuff. . . please ignore the vaccum cleaner beside the mantel one of the kiddos had finished cleaning their rooms. I think the picture is too high. . . but maybe not.

Lovely! Having the picture that belonged to your grandmother makes the whole arrangement special. I like the touch of red in the flowers!

You mantel is lovely. I want one! We don't have a fireplace but I have always thought of a faux mantle. Nice to know how well it works.

I went down and read your amazing adoption story. OH, it brought me to tears. Truly. What a great God we have. Isn't it amazing that He REALLY CAN and DOES give us so much more than we could ever ask or think? I think about that when I pray over something and I have my idea of how I think it should be answered. If I truly give it to Him He provides in ways so creative I never would have even thought of it. Just as if to say, "See, you can trust me, and I am so much more able than you think." I love God!

Thanks for the visit. It was a joy to be here. And your family is beautiful. I love the way you treasure them.

The decorated mantle and picture are great. I'm also very impressed with the vacumn...that a child of yours actually used it and then brought it back from where they used it! :)

Oh, that picture is just beautiful and I love how you have everything set up on your mantle. Very elegant. The roses are the perfect touch of color! My children vacuum their own rooms too. :0)

How beautiful and something you will always treasure, especially since it came from your grandmother.

It is a lovely picture. I love to decorate.... Me? I would hang it a tad lower, maybe make a hanger out of fabric and make it appear it is hanging from it.... or, place a wide/tall mirror on the wall, and place the picture leaning against it in the center. That way it would balance out the scale of the fireplace..... yep, I do this at friends houses as well. I'm such a pest~ lol

The mantle looks great and the placement of the picture seems just fine. It can be seen well and its framed by the other objects. I must say I LOVE the color of your walls!
